Go Bright, Bold and Beautiful in Turquoise

Me 1.jpg
I love bright colours. Although I took a while to become adventurous enough to wear them, I have always been atrracted to the bold and the bright. As the cold season is slowly coming to a close (according to the blossoms out the front of my house anyway...) I am looking less at the winter neutrals in store and find myself increasingly picking out the pops of colour that catch my eye. One such example? This new blouse I picked up at H&M.

Not only is this a brazenly bright colour, it is a genuinely beautiful one that I think might just be one of my favourites. Block, bold shades are themselves enough to make any outfit instantly interesting, without getting complicated. In fact, turquoise is such a gorgeous hue that more often than not, it looks best when left to speak for itself. Stay simple and stylish, pair you statement garment with black or nude and let the turquoise nab all the glory!

I especially love this blouse because it looks so gosh-darn pretty with my paua necklace whcih I got as a parting gift from one of my Kiwi girlfriends. I was wearing it in the changing room and it was one of the deciding factors actually... turns out shopping around your accessories isn't always a bad thing!

  • To start, and because no fashion admiration list would be complete without everyone’s favourite royal and one of the best-dressed women in the world, The Duchess of Cambridge. She looks nothing short of spectacular in this A Line gown from one of her favourite designers, Jenny Peckham. I love the matching clutch!

  • Who would have thought turquoise would look so good in this corporate style? Fashion icon Whitney Port is making the professional world more colourful one outfit at a time, starting with this stylish, silky pant suit.

  • No one does bold, block-colour dresses quite like Lupita Nyong'o. One of my all-time favourites of her many amazing red carpet looks is this one from last year’s SAG Awards. The Kenyan-American beauty makes sure her makeup is on point to tie in with her dress too... très chic!

  • Amy Adams epitomises demure style in this high-neck, beaded, knee-length number. The nude heels are a great choice, leaving the colourful dresses to speak for itself and nab all the glory!

  • Camila Alves proves being heavily pregnant doesn't mean one has to sacrifice glamour and style! Matthew McConaughey's missus shows us how to master red carpet pregnancy style in this elegant turquoise maxi with a thigh-high split.

  • Fashion forward Game of Thrones stunner Emilia Clarke keeps it simple with an oversized, fashion-forward cropped tee.

  • With legs like those on show, it’s hard to even notice the dress! When you do though, you can't help but admire Miranda Kerr's satin mini with that beautiful neckline.

  • As awful a combo as oversized cropped trousers, a feathery top and huge va-va voom hair sounds, Rhianna somehow comes out looking amazing. How does this girl do it?

  • This streamlined halter-neck gown looks magnificent with Reese Witherspoon’s ironed blonde hair. The colour is a stark contrast to the red of the carpet, making the colour and wearer look all the more fabulous.

  • Eva Longoria goes Grecian goddess in this flowing turquoise gown accentuated by gold detailing. I love the neckline but think this dress would look even more fantastic floor-length. Again, the nude heels are the perfect option for this colour.
